The main purpose of this thesis is to study the sound, words and sentences in the Chong language of Ban Thung – Ta – In, Tambon Phluang, Amphoe Makham, Changwat Chanthaburi. The analysis is based on the speech of two Chong informants whose age is about 50-60 years old. The findings of this study are as follows: there are nine types of syllabic structure and four registers (four combinations of phonation types and pitches). There are eighteen long and short single vowels and three diphthongs. There are twenty-one initial consonant phonemes, twelve final consonant phonemes, eleven initial cluster phonemes. Most of the Chong words are found to be monosyllabic and disyllabic. Most of formation of words in the Chong language is compounding. There are three classifications of Chong sentences : the statement, the imperative and the interrogative. All are formed in the SVO order.
